 STEER CLEAR

We selected DCS based on friends recommendations. Of course they don’t cook much. They use their microwave more than their oven. We purchased the DCS WOTD-23O oven when we built our home. Within 18 months we had to have the double oven replaced. The door hinges came loose. The door hinge assembly is built into the liner. The liner is comprised of thin sheet metal. The door is very heavy placing undo stress on the hinge assembly in the oven frame/liner. DCS replaced the oven. Within 18 months of using the eplacement oven the Preheat element failed. Luckily I had obtained an appliance service contract with my gas company and it was fixed. I only had to pay a $35 service fee. Now after 2 years the hinge assembly on the replacement oven is failing again. I will notify my service repair company and see if there is a kit to fix this problem. I doubt that since the whole liner will be have to be replaced. Apparently DCS never designed their ovens for the hinge assembly to be replaced so the whole oven will have to be replaced. This is not a $29 toaster one can economically write off it it breaks. This is an expensive lemon. If you buy it make sure you have an extended warranty or a service plan that covers the problems I have experienced. Good Luck!
